American Commercial Lines, Inc.
One of the mightiest on the mighty Mississippi, barge operator American Commercial Lines (ACL) navigates the inland waterways of the US. ACL moves dry bulk commodities, including grain, cement, fertilizer, salt, coal, steel, and pig iron. It also transports bulk liquid cargo, such as chemicals, ethanol, and petroleum products. ACL's fleet comprises more than 2,000 barges powered by 125 towboats. In addition to transportation, its Jeffboat subsidiary designs and makes service vessels for ACL and other customers, and its Elliott Bay Design Group (EBDG) provides marine engineering.
